'Pak to take effective steps to dismantle terror' Thursday, July 27 2006 10:54 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
India has conveyed to Pakistan at the highest level that the bilateral dialogue process would be undermined unless Islamabad took effective steps to dismantle the terror infrastructure in that country, Lok Sabha was informed yesterday (July 26, 2006).
Pakistan should take 'effective action' to dismantle the training camps, launch pads and communication links between terrorist groups on the Indian side and their handlers on the Pakistan side, Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed said in reply to a question.
Islamabad needs to take these steps to fulfil its commitment given in the Joint Statement of January 2004 that it would not permit any territory under its control to be used to support terrorism in any manner, he said, adding that India has been keeping the world community informed of developments in this regard as part of the global war against terror.
In reply to another question, Ahamed said, "No formal proposal has been received from Pakistan President (Pervez Musharraf) for a final settlement of Jammu and Kashmir".
