Friday, July 28 2006 12:41 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Over six lakh employees of public sector banks, barring State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda and Indian Overseas Bank, went on a day-long strike today against outsourcing of services, affecting the operations in these banks across the country.

The strike, called by AIBEA, Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI) and All India Bank Officer's Association (AIBOA), was also to press for one more pension option.

The unions are demanding withdrawal of RBI circular on outsourcing, cap voting rights at 10 per cent for foreign investors, filling up one lakh vacancies and an option to switch from providend fund to pension scheme.
