BJP demands privilege motion against Shivraj Patil Friday, July 28 2006 17:19 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Opposition BJP members in the Rajya Sabha today (July 28, 2006) demanded privilege motion against Home Minister Shivraj Patil for what they said providing 'incorrect' information to the House regarding the arrest of security personnel in Jammu and Kashmir for their alleged links with LeT.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Lalit Kishore Chaturvedi (BJP) said the Home Minister had stated that the arrested jawans did not belong to army.
But, the media reported that they belonged to Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI), he said and added giving 'incorrect' infomation was regrettable.
He said National Security Advisor M K Narayanan had cautioned about infiltration of LeT into the Indian Air Force.
Chaturvedi said Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee should clarify whether these personnel belonged to the army or not.
When BJP members demanded a privilege motion against Patil, Deputy Chairperson K Rahman Khan did not entertain them and observed that members should give proper notice.
