Bangalore: The committee set up to look into the failed mission of GSLV-FO2 was making satisfactory progress and would come out with its findings within a month, ISRO Chairman G Madhavan Nair said here yesterday (July 28, 2006).

Speaking to reporters here, he said the preliminary 'research' was available now and we know that the thrust controller in the engine malfunctioned, causing the failure.

He said work was going on to find out why the thrust controller malfunctioned.

The Indian Space Research Organisation had formed the Failure Analysis Committee to find out the cause of the mission failure.

The Geo-synchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV-FO2) had crashed into the Bay of Bengal on July 10 as it veered off its flight path soon after it blasted off carrying INSAT-4C communication satellite from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota.
