Israeli air bombing cuts off link route to Syria Sunday, July 30 2006 14:51 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Beirut:
Israeli planes renewed air strikes early Sunday on the Masnaa area, bombing the main road to the border region with Syria, Lebanese security sources said.
Israeli jets fired at least three rockets, wounding one occupant of a car, the sources said.
Earlier, the planes fired at least three missiles, destroying the road and cutting off the main route used by Lebanese to flee to neighbouring Syria, sources said.
Earlier, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah vowed to strike cities in the centre of Israel.
Meanwhile, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said late Saturday that any prisoner swap with Israel would involve only Lebanese detainees and not other Arabs.
"If (the Israelis) wanted, within a week, days or even starting today, Lebanon is ready for the exchange operation of the Lebanese detainees and bodies in return for the two Israeli soldiers," the speaker told journalists.
Israel has demanded that its two soldiers be freed without any exchange of prisoners.
