Centre should take decision on banning Colas: Basu
Monday, August 14 2006 12:18 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today (Aug 13, 2006) said the Centre should take a decision on the issue of banning soft drinks in the country and that a ban by individual states would not be helpful.

"Banning of these soft drinks by two or three states will not be helpful. A policy decision has to come from the Centre," he told reporters here.

Referring to the ban imposed by Kerala on these soft drinks, he said, "I have told them (Kerala) to send me a copy of the Government Order on this".

He said he was in touch with the Centre to elicit its opinion on the ban.

"But they (Centre) have to come out with a clear decision," he said.
