Moscow:
At least ten people, including two children, were killed and 31 injured in a blast in a crowded market in the Russian capital today (Aug 21, 2006).
The unknown explosive device went off at 10.40 am local time (12.10 IST) in Izamilovo area of east Moscow.
The powerful blast brought down a two-storeyed pavilion where many parents alongwith their children were shopping for the new academic year beginning September 1.
"It was an intentional act," Acting city Mayor Vladimir Resin told reporters adding investigation would determine whether it was a terror act or gang war.
Earlier, quoting Emergency Situations Ministry officials Radio Mayak said the blast was probably caused by a cooking gas cylinder.
