BJP tries to raise Vande Matram issue in Rajya Sabha
Tuesday, August 22 2006 14:45 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Opposition BJP and Shiv Sena today sought to raise the Vande Matram issue during Question Hour in Rajya Sabha but were disallowed by the Chairman.

As soon as the House met for the day, Manohar Joshi (SS) sought to raise the issue but Chairman Bhairon Singh Shekhawat said the issue could be discussed after Question Hour.

"I don't have any objection to the issue being discussed," he said even as BJP members joined Joshi in raising the matter.

Shekhawat ordered that question would go on record.

Sushma Swaraj (BJP) said the BJP would raise the issue during Zero Hour.

After this, order was restored in the House and Question Hour taken up.
