Govt urges Left not to press for debate on nuke deal
Wednesday, August 23 2006 10:33 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Against the backdrop of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's firm response on the Indo-US nuclear deal in the Rajya Sabha last week, Government yesterday (Aug 22, 2006) appealed to the Left parties against pressing for a debate on the issue in the Lok Sabha today (Aug 23, 2006)

Parliamentary Affairs Minister P R Dasmunsi told reporters that while the matter has been listed in today's order paper, the Government could take some more legislative business tomorrow instead of such a debate if the Left agreed.
