Mauj Telecom gets Red Herring's Asia 100 award
Wednesday, August 23 2006 15:44 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: Mauj Telecom, a wireless solutions firm with Sequoia and Intel as investors, has emerged as tech magazine Red Herring's Asia 100 winner.

Red Herring's list that recognises promising technology companies in the region is a part of the magazine's tradition of identifying new and innovative firms and entrepreneurs, said a statement by Mauj Telecom.

The company, which operates from Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Dubai, London, and New York, was selected from among over 600 submissions for the listing. It was based on parameters such as financial data and subjective criteria like the quality of management, execution of strategy and dedication to research and development.

Companies like Google and eBay were among those companies that had been spotted by the magazine in their early days and seen as having the potential to change the way people live and work.

"We are delighted to be acknowledged as a Red Herring 100 Asia winner. Mauj Telecom, in less than three years, is established as the gold standard in the mobile entertainment business in India," said chief executive Arun Gupta.

Mauj is distributing its content and applications through more than 50 operators and portals worldwide and is now expanding aggressively in Europe and US, the company statement added.

It is developing a wide range of exclusive content, applications and services on mobile phones to make the medium emerge as the fourth screen for entertainment after cinema, television and personal computers.

Mauj has a catalogue of over 100 mobile games like Diffuser and Against All Odds as also Bluetooth games such as Temple Combat and Beyond Speed Limits.
