LeT founder detained after brief release by Pakistan
Tuesday, August 29 2006 11:48 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Islamabad: Lashkar-e-Toyaba founder Hafeez Muhammed Saeed was detained again by Pakistani authorities after being released for a brief period following a court order to set him free.

"He was released for an hour after the Lahore High Court order to set him free and police arrested him again late in the evening," Saeed's lawyer Nazir Ahmad Ghazi told sources from Lahore today (Aug 29, 2006).

"Saeed was brought from the Shiekhpura guest house where he was earlier lodged and released in Lahore. But he was detained for a two months period once again an hour later," Ghazi said.

"He was brought home and later taken to a local jail," he said.

He said he would take up the case in the Lahore High Court again, which set Saeed free yesterday after holding that his arrest on the grounds that he was a threat to public peace was illegal.
