BJP flays Centre for consensus move on security Thursday, August 31 2006 14:54 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
The BJP yesterday(Aug 30, 2006) condemned as an act of minority appeasement the Congress-led Centre's plans to evolve a consensus on proposals to protect Ayodhya's makeshift Ram Temple with a bullet-proof "The safety of a religious place depends on factors like its intelligence inputs, threat perceptions and its sanctity, but the Centre's stand to evolve a consensus on bullet-proofing of the Ram Temple in Aypodhya is the worst form of politics of appeasement," BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters here.
His comments come in the wake of the Centre informing the Supreme Court yesterday that it was evolving a consensus and was in touch with the Uttar Pradesh government for revamping security at the disputed site, including putting up bullet-proof steel walls around the Ram Lalla idol.
The BJP leader alleged that the Centre's move will act as an encouragement to terrorists.
