Congress declines comment; matter be probed: BJP Thursday, September 7 2006 10:39 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Congress yesterday (Sept 6, 2006)declined to comment on television channel's airing CDs of narco analysis tests conducted on Abdul Karim in multi-crore stamp paper scam which sought to link Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar in the case while opposition BJP demanded a probe into the 'very serious matter'.
"The matter is under judicial supervision. Law will take its course", were all that Congress spoesperson Jayanti Natrajan told reporters when asked about the airing of the
CDs. Both Pawar and Bhujbal denied their involvement in the case.
Replying to a volley of questions on the party's stand on the matter allegedly involving NCP, which is a coalition partner in Congress-led government at the Centre and in
Mahashtra, Natarajan said the fact is that the matter is subjudice.
BJP spokesman Prakash Jawedkar, however, said the 'disclosure' made by the accused is very serious and should be probed immediately.
However, he said it was up to those named by Telgi to decide whether to resign or continue in office.
"It all depends upon the morality of those named by Telgi," he said.
