Mattoo case: CBI seeks death sentence for accused Thursday, September 7 2006 14:35 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
The CBI today (Sept 7, 2006) sought death sentence for Santosh Singh, accused of raping and murdering Priyadarshni Mattoo in 1996, from the Delhi High Court.
Concluding the arguments on rape and murder charges, the CBI told the Division Bench that it will argue on the capital punishment later.
Mattoo was murdered in January 1996 at her residence in Vasant Kunj area of South Delhi allegedly by Santosh Singh whose father was a senior IPS officer.
A Delhi trial court had acquitted Santosh Singh after giving him benefit of doubt.
