Ramani's arrest appears to be 'excessive': Sabrina
Thursday, September 7 2006 11:15 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Slain model Jessica Lall's sister Sabrina yesterday (Sept 6, 2006) night termed the arrest of socialite Bina Ramani, against whom a court here had issued warrant in a cheating and forgery case, appears to be 'rather excessive'.

"I dont't know whether the police have other agenda or a bigger picture in mind. But on the face of it, it appears that the arrest is rather excessive," Sabrina told sources.

"If it is just a question of forgery, it seems petty inthe larger scheme of things", he said.

Sabrina said she was 'unclear' about police's motive behind the arrest of Bina Ramani, a key witness in Jessica Lall murder case, and how it would help in the reinvestigation of the murder case.

"If she did something wrong she has to pay the price. But how serious is the charge of forgery in a murder case? Even then, if some action has to be taken it should have been taken earlier," she said.

Ramani was arrested from a restaurant owned by her in Candolim, about 20km from Panaji, by a Special Investigation Team of Delhi Police and Goa Police.

The warrant against Ramani was issued in a case of cheating and forgery for acquiring a licence to run a restaurant in south Delhi where the ramp model was shot dead.
