Court to hear arguments on quantum of punishment Tuesday, September 12 2006 17:41 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
A TADA court, which today (Sept 12, 2006) held four members of Tiger Memon family guilty of participating in the conspiracy to create 1993 Bombay Bomb Blasts, would hear arguments tomorrow (Sept 12, 2006) on quantum of punishment to be awarded to them.
Finding Yakub Memon, Essa Memon, Yusuf Memon and Rubina Memon guilty, the designated judge P D Kode said he was deferring the matter till tomorrow for arguments on the quantum of sentence.
While Yakub Memon said he and his family would not engage a lawyer to advance arguments on quantum of sentence, CBI said its lawyer would submit arguments tomorrow.
Yakub said he and his family members would make their submissions themselves before the court.
Yakub, Essa, Yusuf are brothers of prime accused Tiger Memon who is absconding while Rubina is wife of Tiger's brother Suleman.
Tiger's mother Hanifa Memon, sister-in-law Rahin Memon and brother suleman were however let off as they were given benefit of doubt. The judge observed that evidence against them was not strong enough to find them guilty.
