Tight security arrangements were made to ensure free and fair polling in the Malda Lok Sabha by-election slated for September 16.
State chief election officer Debashis Sen said para-military and police personnel would be deployed in various points from tomorrow.
Altogether 22 company para-military and 2000 state armed police would be deployed in the district for the polling.
Sen, who reviewed arrangements with various police and district officials, told a press meet that patrol were intensified throughout the district.
Strict vigil was on along international and inter-state border.
While armed policeman would be present in all booths, four para-military personnel would be on duty in highly sensitive booths, he said.
To a question, Sen said there would be three election observers in the constituency. Senior Congress leader and union minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi had demanded seven observers for seven assembly segments.
