Kofi Annan to address 14th NAM summit in Havana

United Nations: UN Secretary General Kofi Annan will seek greater participation from developing countries in multilateral institutions, including financial and political entities, during his participation at the 14th Non alligned Movement summit in Havana.

Annan will travel to Havana today to address the he plenary session of the 118-member movement tomorrow and on Saturday.

UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said Annan will speak at the meeting of NAM heads of state and government, attend bilateral meetings with officials of the Cuban Executive, and meet with heads of the attending delegations.

Annan will reportedly call on NAM to have more voice for the south at multilateral financial and political instances, and will note this will entail more responsibility both globally and domestically, Dujarric said.

The NAM Summit that began in the Cuban capital on Monday.
