Rajnath blames Congress for govt fall in Jharkhand
Thursday, September 14 2006 17:23 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: The BJP today (Sept 14, 2006) blamed the fall of its government in Jharkhand on the Congress, which it accused of undemocratic practices to unseat non-Congress parties from power.

Party chief Rajnath Singh, a key player in the formation of the Munda government, insisted his party did not resort to unconstitutional and unethical means to retain power in the state.

"The people of Jharkhand had given their mandate only to the NDA during the last Assembly elections. We have not resorted to any undemocratic, unconstitutional and unethical means to save our government," he said.

He alleged that the UPA had destabilised the state that, he insisted, was on the path of economic growth and prosperity.

"Anti-people and anti-welfare acts of the Congress will be challenged by the people of Jharkhand in times to come," Singh said.

He also accused the UPA of non-seriousness about running the new government, insisting that none of its partners has so far come forward to lead the Government.

"Whenever the Congress is in power at the Centre, they adopt their old and undemocratic practice of not allowing non-Congress Governments to function in the states," a party statement quoted Singh as saying.
