Israel charges three suspected Hezbollah members
Monday, September 18 2006 18:22 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Jerusalem: Three suspected Hezbollah fighters who were captured during the Lebanon war were charged in Israel on today (Sept 18,2006) with "murder" and belonging to a 'terrorist organisation', a legal source said.

The chargesheet was presented against Hussein Suleiman, Mohammed Srur and Maher Kurani, three suspected guerrillas from the Shiite movement, who appeared before a civil court in the northern Israeli town of Nazareth.

Under Israeli law, foreign residents can face trial for "terrorist activities" but this is the first time since Israel's war against Hezbollah that such charges have been levelled against presumed members of the militia.
