Terming the decision to resume talks between India and Pakistan as a good omen, the Opposition National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir yesterday (Sept 17, 2006) hoped that the Kashmir issue will be resolved expeditiously.
Meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has removed the hurdles and eased tension in the ties between the two countries created by recent Mumbai serial blasts, NC President Omar Abdullah told a
public meeting at Surasyar, 40 kms from here in Budgam district of central Kashmir yesterday.
The meeting between the two leaders is of far reaching significance and expected to yield better results, Omar said.
He expressed the hope that people of the state would not have to wait for long for resolution of the Kashmir issue.
He said it was expected that the ongoing bloodshed and unbearable difficulties would come to an end for ever because people of the state want to get rid of the oppression and
unbearable difficulties and everlasting solution to the Kashmir issue.
India and Pakistan decided to resume their dialogue after a one-to-one meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf on the sidelines of NAM summit in Havana yesterday. The talks were stalled following the July 11 serial blasts in Mumbai which claimed nearly 200 lives.
