Verdict likely on Turk and Shaikh in 1993 blasts Tuesday, September 19 2006 15:11 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

The designated TADA court is likely to give verdict today (Sept 1q9.2006 on the alleged involvement of Abdul Gani Turk and Pervez Shaikh, both accused in the 1993 blast case.
Turk is charged with parking an RDX-laden jeep at Century bazar in Worli in central Mumbai that exploded on March 12, 1993, killing 113 persons.
He is also charged with attending conspiracy meetings at the resideces of co-accused, participating in landing operations of arms and explosives at Shekhadi coast in Raigad
district, transporting explosives from Shekhadi to Mumbai, obtaining training in arms handling in Naigaon dis and filling RDX in vehicles which were parked at various places on the day of the serial blasts.
Shaikh is charged with causing explosions at Katha bazaar at Pydhoni in south Mumbai, by parking an RDX-laden scooter, that exploded killing 4 persons and injuring 21, besides damaging property worth Rs 40 lakh.
He is also charged with planting explosive laden bags in three five-star hotels-- Searock, Juhu Centaur and Airport Centaur-- which exploded causing damage to property. However, there was no loss of live in the blast.
Both are facing charges under provisions of TADA (P) Act, IPC, Explosive Substances Act, Explosives Act and Prvention of Damage to Public Property Act.
If found guilty, they are likely to face punishment ranging from 5 years to life sentence or even death.
