Ahmedabad: A local court here has remanded four suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists, arrested in the state in the last two days, to police custody till October 1.

The accused, Mohammed Khalid, Ilyas Memon, Maulvi Kari Muffidul and Siraj Ansari, suspected to be part of a LeT sleeper cell module based in Ahmedabad, were produced before metropolitan magistrate J R Bhatt's court by the city crime branch late last evening.

While seeking a remand for 14 days, police told the court that they needed to further interrogate the suspects about the sleeper modules' network in Gujarat and also to find out if they had any possible terror targets in the state.

There was also a need to investigate the various nationwide phone calls made by the suspects from Gujarat, police said adding that this could help in tracking down their pan-national network in India.

The crime branch officials had yesterday claimed to have busted `a pan-national sleeper cell module of the LeT' with the arrest of four suspected terrorists including the `prized catch' of Mohammed Khalid, younger brother of a key terrorist Aslam Kashmiri (wanted in connection with the LeT module he set up in Aurangabad).

Crime branch police has seized several incriminating documents including Urdu literature and the letter pad of the banned outfit as well as numerous CD's and computer during the arrests made on September 18 and 19.

Those arrested in the last few days, included two from Ahmedabad, of which one was a senior cleric at a madrasa near Bharuch district and one hailed from Kashmir.
