India is interfering in Pakistan: Pervez Musharraf
Tuesday, September 26 2006 14:53 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New York: Responding to India's charge of Pakistani interference in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf returned the compliment alleging, "We also have reservations about interference in our country."

Musharraf's response was to Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh assuring critics of the understanding reached on a joint institutional mechanism on terrorism with Pakistan that this would be a 'test' of Pakistan's sincerity and ability.

"An institutional arrangement is required for both sides, this will give comfort to the two states as we also have some observations about interference in our country," The Nation quoted Musharraf as saying today (Sept 26,2006).

Pakistani leaders have in the past accused India of fomenting trouble in Sindh province and encouraging sectarian violence among Muslim groups in Karachi.

More recently, they have said that trouble in Pakistan's Balochistan province was fomented by India and that the Baloch separatists received material help from outside.

However, availability of arms and funds has never been a problem in Pakistan with drug money in wide circulation.
