Maharashtra Government has set up a high-level committee and a joint task force to review measures against terrorism in the state.
The development comes after recent terror attacks in the state, including the July 11 serial train blasts and the Malegaon blasts earlier this month.
Chief Secretary D K Shankaran would head the committee while director general of police P S Pasricha would be in charge of the task force.
The committee comprises additional chief secretary (home), state DGP and IG, Mumbai police commissioner, Coast Guard commander, Intelligence Bureau joint director, GOC
Maharashtra and Goa Area, Special IG (anti-terrorist squad), flag officer of western Naval command, chief commissioner, Customs and officers of central and state intelligence departments.
The committee would review the internal security situation in the state keeping in mind the national security situation, according to an official release.
The panel would also make necessary recommendations for appropriate assistance and cooperation from the Central Government' It would review state security based on
information and directives received from the Centre.
"The formation of these bodies has been done following recommendations of an experts group set up by the Central Government," the release said.
