Musharraf harps on self-governance for Kashmiris

New York: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, who has created a mild political stir with his book, today said there was need to talk of demilitarisation of Kashmir and giving self-governance to the people.

"We need to talk of giving self-governance to the people of Kashmir and then we need to have an ovarall joint management body overseeing both sides of the LoC," he said at a function to mark the release here of his book 'In the Line of Fire'.

Musharraf said he has been chastised for being forthright and mostly candid and that this was reflected.

"I have not shied away from treating sensitive issues in some areas," he said.
