Islamabad: President Pervez Musharraf has said Pakistan and India could take up allegations of suberversive activities by each other in the joint anti-terror mechanism agreed during his recent meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Havana.

Pakistan and India could bring forth their issues related to subversive acts and they could be taken up by the agreed 'Institutional Mechanism' against terror, Musharraf told reporters in New York yesterday before winding up his 10-day visit to the US, state-run sources.

"We can talk if something happens anywhere in Pakistan and they can do the same about their country," he said.

On the Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) pipeline, Musharraf said Pakistan was pursuing the mega project with full vigour.

"Hitherto, no one has asked us to abandon the project but even if someone asked, we will not oblige as we cannot ignore our energy demands," he said when asked about reservations expressed by the US on the project over Iran's alleged nuclear weapon ambitions.

If someone wanted Pakistan to give it up, then they should come up with some alternative offer, he said adding the pipeline was in the interest of Pakistan, Iran and India and he believed that it could be extended right up to China.

Asked about the US rejection of Pakistan's demand for a civilian nuclear deal, Musharraf said President George W Bush could not oblige him in this regard and reiterated Washington's earlier decision that the case of India and Pakistan were different.

"Bush had a clear understanding of Pakistan's position on the vital issue, but the problem was with the Congress due to the issue of A Q Khan proliferation network," he said.
