India's legal delegation in US to discuss issues Tuesday, October 3 2006 12:37 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Washington:
In line with the expanding relations between the two countries, a high powered Indian legal delegation led by Chief Justice Y K Sabharwal will hold discussions with their American counterparts here.
The Indian delegation will be holding discussions with US Justices at the fifth meeting of Indo-US Legal Forum in Washington DC and San Francisco This is the first high-level interaction between the two sides that is being held with the new composition of the United States Supreme Court.
Sabharwal is accompanied by senior Justices K G Balakrishnan, B.N.Agarwal, Ashok Bhan and Arijit Pasayath along with the Additional Solicitor General of India Gopal Subramaniam and former Solicitor General of India and currently senior lawyer of the Supreme Court Harish Salve.
The Indian delegation has already held its first high level meeting with the United States Supreme Court Justices headed by Chief Justice John Roberts.
The Indian Supreme Court Justices will listen to oral arguments scheduled in the United States Supreme Court today and will attend a lunch hosted by Chief Justice Roberts. Justices Antony Kennedy, Ruth Bader Ginshburg, Stephen Bayer and Samuel Alito will also be present.
