President, PM greet people on Guru Nanak Jayanti

New Delhi : President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Saturday greeted people on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, the birth anniversary of the founder the Sikh religion, to be celebrated Sunday.
Both leaders said the occasion should inspire people to lead a life of honesty and virtue.
In his message, Kalam said: "As we celebrate Guru Nanak Devji's birthday let us deeply understand his message of meditation and remembering god, honestly earning through one's physical and mental effort while accepting god's gifts and blessings and to share within society."
Manmohan Singh said Guru Nanak's message of leading an honest, truthful and virtuous life continues to guide and inspire humanity.
"Guru Nanak Devji showed the path to spiritual salvation and his preaching inspire us to embrace equality, compassion and humanism," the prime minister said.
