Sensex up 53 points in early trade; RIL rally

Mumbai: The benchmark Sensex maintained its upward trend on the Bombay Stock Exchange by gaining over 53 points in early trade on sustained buying by funds in Reliance Industries and heavyweight stocks.


The 30-share index, Sensex, which gained 64.98 points in previous trading, recorded another 53.35 points at 13,190.84 in first five minutes of trading.

The wide-based National Stock Exchange, Nifty also rose by 14.30 points to trade at 3,810.70.

The major support came in from heavy-weights like Reliance Industries, ONGC, Tata Motors, Hero Honda, Ranbaxy Lab, Infosys, Tata Steel, Satyam Computers, Reliance Communications, HDFC Ltd, Bajaj Auto, HDFC Bank, BHEL, Tata Consultancy Services, Larsen and Toubro, Bharti Airtel, ACC and Dr Reddy's Lab.
