10-point strategy to enhance India-China ties

New Delhi: India and China today agreed to a ten-pronged strategy to intensify cooperation and enhance the strategic ties between them.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who held a 100-minutes of talks with visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao here, said that the two sides decided the positive developments that have taken place in Sino-Indian ties "must be made irresversible".

Singh said he and President Hu have agreed that comprehensive economic and commercial engagement between the two countries will lead to regional development. He said both the countries will endeavour to reach the bilateral volume of trade to 40 billion US dollars by 2010 and encourage two-way investment.

It has been decided to boost trans-border connectivity, Singh said.

The two countries have also agreed to have Counsul-Generals in Kolkata and Guangzhou.

Singh expresssed happiness over the solution of the issue of India's mission in Shanghai.
