Train mishap: FIR against two railway engineers

Bhagalpur (Bihar):  Nearly 40 hours after the train disaster, an FIR was lodged tonight with Government Railway Police station here against two engineers and the contractor engaged by the railways for dismantling an old overbridge that collapsed over a running train on Saturday (Dec 2, 2006) taking 35 lives.

The FIR was lodged on the basis of the statement of officer in-charge of GRP, Bhagalpur Gaurishanker Gupta against the Deputy Chief Engineer and junior Engineer (Construction) of Malda Railway Division of Eastern Railway and the contractor Vijay Constructions, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Railway) Ajay Verma told sources.
