New Delhi, The Samajwadi Party and the TDP today staged a walkout in Rajya Sabha demanding resignation of Finance Minister P Chidambaram alleging his involvement in delaying recovery of huge tax dues from London-based firm Vedanta.
Soon after the House met, Amar Singh (SP) said he had given a notice on the issue but Chairman Bhairon Singh Shekhawat disallowed saying nothing will go on record.
SP members raised slogans seeking recovery of Rs 2.5 billion due from Vedanta in excise and custom levies.
They sought resignation of the Finance Minister who was associated with Vedanta before becoming a minister in the UPA government.
With the Chair not relenting, the SP and TDP members staged a walkout.
