New Delhi:
Security around Congress President Sonia Gandhi has been further tightened
following intelligence inputs suggesting threat to her life from Pakistan-based
militant outfits including al-Qaeda.
The intelligence inputs have been shared with elite Special Protection Group
(SPG) guarding her.
While she was already protected by the SPG, the authorities have now decided to
stop traffic when she is moving anywhere in the country as a precautionary
measure.
The sources said that some militant outfits including al-Qaeda were trying to
target her. The threat was based on intelligence inputs. |
