Sensex surges by 58 points during early trade Tuesday, December 26, 2006 12:23 [IST]
Mumbai: Continuing its upward journey, the benchmark Sensex
surged by over 58 points on the Bombay Stock Exchange in early trade today (Dec
26, 2006), on the back of buying by foreign funds as well as retail investors.
The 30-share index, Sensex, which had gained 86.88 points on Friday, shot up by
another 58.91 points to 13,530.65 in the first five minutes of trade due to
rally in index-related stocks.
Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange, Nifty, was up by 18.75
points at 3,889.50.
Major support for the Sensex came in from stocks like ACC, Reliance Industries,
Tata Steel, Larsen and Toubro, BHEL, Bharti Airtel, ITC Ltd, Tata Consultancy
Services, Cipla and Satyam Computers.
