Seven dead to due severe cold in Nepal Terai region Thursday, January 04, 2007 12:20 [IST]
Kathmandu: Seven more persons, including an Indian national,
have died due to intense cold in Nepal's Terai region bringing the total number
of people killed so far to 18," officials said.
Six persons each have died in Siraha and Rautahat districts, while four were
killed in Bara and two in Dhanusha districts.
One of those killed due to the severe cold in Pathlaiya of Bara district has
been identified as Chanchal Chamar of India, according to the Kantipur
daily.
Dozens of people have been visiting hospitals daily due to the spread of cold
related diseases including pneumonia, hospital sources said.
Domestic and international flights coming into Kathmandu
have also had to be postponed due to heavy fog in the Tribhuvan International
Airport (TIA).
