NOIDA killings: UP cops suspends 2 SPs, sacks 6 cops Thursday, January 04, 2007 12:47 [IST]
Lucknow: Reeling under all-round criticism over police inaction that led to serialkillings of children in Noida, the Uttar Pradesh government tonight suspended twoSuperintendents of Police and dismissed six policemen for alleged derelictionof duty. Piyush Mordia, who was SSP Noida during the time the murder and sexual abuse ofchildren took place, and now posted in neighbouring Ghaziabad, was suspended along with SoumitraYadav, Additional SP, Noida.
The action follows the report by the two-member committee headed by PrincipalHome Secretary Arun Kumar Singh that visited the Nithari village in Noida, thescene of the grisly killings on Tuesday (Jan 2, 2007) and yesterday (Jan 3,2007).
Disclosing this, UP Chief Secretary Navin Chandra Bajpai told reporters herethat two SHOs and four police outpost in charge near the village have beendismissed from service. |
