New Delhi: The Supreme Court today (Jan 12, 2007) grantedbail to cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, one day after he wassent to the Patiala jail on charges of causing the death of a motorist.

The apex court granted the bail on a bond of Rs.25,000.

Sidhu had surrendered before the chief judicial magistratein ChandigarhThursday. He was convicted last month for unintentionally causing the death of65-year-old Gurnam Singh in Punjab's Patialatown Dec 27, 1988.
