'Guj Govt slow in execution of Central schemes' Tuesday, January 16, 2007 02:54 [IST]
Vadodara: The Narendra Modi government in Gujarat
is slow in the implementation of various schemes of UPA government, Union
Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunshi alleged here
today(Jan 16, 2007).
Talking to PTI here, he said that these schemes included National Rural
Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGA), Sarva Siksha Abhiyan and Rajiv Gandhi
rural electrification schemes.
This is not a political accusation even several other state governments too
were slow in the implementation of Central government schemes, he said.
Rejecting the charge of BJP MPs and Gujarat
government that Centre was doing injustice to the state, Dasmunshi said the
Centre has always helped the state government on the issue of raising the
height of the Sardar Sarovar dam, giving assistance for the rehabilitation of
the earthquake victims and providing quick assistance to flood affected people.
"The Centre has given an assistance of Rs 5 billion to Gujarat for the
flood relief measures and declared package for affected textile units in Surat and other places.
"Not only that, the Centre has also approved plans for the construction of
houses for the flood-hit people of Surat,"
he said.
He said the Government has received complaints of misutilisation of funds of
employment guarantee schemes in Panchmahal district of the state.
