3-member Hurriyat delegation leaves for Pakistan

Jammu:A three-member delegation of separatist Hurriyat Conference led by its Chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq will leave for Islamabad on January 17 to hold talks with President Pervez Musharaf and other leaders of the Pakistan Government and Opposition.

The delegation comprises Bilal Gani Lone and Prof Abdul Gani Bhatt besides Mirwaiz, Hurriyat spokesman Salem Geelani told reporters here yesterday (Jan 15, 2007).

To a question about the possibility of the delegation's meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi before its departure for Pakistan, he said, "There was no such fixture till now and no invitation has been recieved by us."

 

Asked whether the delegation would talk to militant groups in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, he declined to comment.
