Putin will undertake a two-day visit to India soon

 New Delhi:Russian President Vladimir Putin will undertake a two-day visit here fromJanuary 25 that is expected to take the bilateral relations to a higher plane.


Putin, the Chief Guest at Republic Day celebrations, will hold talks with PrimeMinister Manmohan Singh, meet President A P J Abdul Kalam and other leadersduring the official visit.

The whole array of relations including in the fields of energy, trade,investment, defence and space will be discussed during the visit, ExternalAffairs Ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna told reporters here today.

The two countries already have strategic partnership and the upcoming visit islikely to see them sign a framework agreement for civil nuclear cooperationoutlining how the two countries can cooperate in the field.

Some agreements in the field of defence are also in the offing. These include apact providing for manufacturing of RD-33 engines for Russia-made MIG-29fighter aircraft here by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

Putin will be accompanied by a high-level delegation including several seniorministers and business leaders.
