BJP calls inflation hike is UPA's abject failure Saturday, January 20, 2007 01:25 [IST]
New Delhi: The BJP yesterday (Jan 19,20070 blamed the UPA
Government for the surge in inflation to its highest level this season, saying
it was a sign of the Congress led government's "mishandling" of
economy.
"This is a sign of the UPA's abject failure on the economic front,"
party spokesman Praksah Javadekar said.
He was reacting to the the rise of inflation levels to 6.12 per cent this
season.
He also accused the ruling UPA of inability to check prices of commodities of
daily use, saying the phenomenon was hitting the common man hard.
"This is a great betrayal. The rise of prices of daily necessities is are
adversely impacting the purchasing power of the poor," he remarked.
Javadekar alleged that prices shoot up as and when the Congress comes to power
in the country.
The BJP also expressed surprise over British Chancellor of Exchequer Gordon
Brown's remarks about a likely bill in Parliament aiming at increasing the FDI
limits in the insurance sector.
Party General Secretary Arun Jaitley pointed out that, the UPA has not
discussed such plans with the NDA or with it's allies.
"The move referred to by Brown was not decided in the cabinet or put
before Parliamnet," he remarked.
