Mumbai: Britain's Chancellor of Exchequer Gordon Brown yesterday(Jan 19,2007) assured his government's full cooperation in removing trade barriers with India.

Links between the financial services sector of both the countries are growing and the two governments have a very important role to play to strengthen bilateral ties, Brown, widely tipped to succeed Tony Blair as Britain's Prime Minister, told a conference on financial services sector organised by ICICI Bank here.

Brown, along with a UK trade delegation, visited ICICI Bank Towers, a bank release said.

Addressing the conference, ICICI Bank MD and CEO K V Kamath laid down the challenges that the rapidly growing Indian economy is facing.

"Some of the challenges faced by India are inclusive banking, modernisation of financial infrastructure, poverty alleviation and growing demand for skilled and qualified manpower," Kamath said.
