Kabul: At least 10 people were killed and 14 injured today (Jan 23, 2007)  in a suicide bombing near a US military compound in eastern Afghanistan's Khost city. 

The explosion occurred when some employees of the military compound were queuing up to enter it, said witnesses. 

A spokesperson with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) confirmed the explosion but said there were no casualties on their side.

Khost province, a mountainous region, has been a hotbed of Taliban militants, who often attack foreign and government forces.
