Pak determined to go ahead with IPI project: Aslam

Islamabad:  Disregarding objections by the US over the Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) gaspipeline, Pakistansaid it is determined to pursue it and would confirm the broad agreements onpricing in one months time.

"We have energy requirements. We are determined to pursue them(Project)", Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Tasneem Aslam told amedia briefing here today.

Iran, Pakistan, Indiahave recently reached a broad understanding on the pricing issue of the2,700-km pipeline project during the tripartite talks in Tehran.

"There has been a broad understanding on the pricing issue. Thedelegations have conveyed what they broadly agreed in principle to theirrespective governments. We expect that there would be confirmation of it in amonth's time", she said.

Asked whether Pakistanwould disregard US objections, Aslam said, "We are determined to followour policies and what is in our interest. The three countries during theirmeeting in Tehranhave sorted out their differences on pricing."
