Polling for municipal corporation's polls begins

Mumbai: Polling began this morning for the Mumbai municipal corporation'selections. Elections are also being held in neighbouring Thane and eight othercorporations. Police have made adequate security arrangements for ensuring a peacefulelection.

At least one policeman has been stationed in each of the 6,951 polling boothsacross the city while one Police Inspector will be looking after each of the227 wards.

Companies of the Riot Control Police and the State Reserve Police Forcerequisitioned by city police have been stationed at strategic locations. Seniorpolice officials, including DCPs, Additional Commissioners and JointCommissioners are also overseeing the polling process.

Closed circuit cameras will also be monitoring the movement of people.
