DPA

Gaza: "Fatah fightersloyal to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas early Friday stormed a Gaza university that isconsidered a Hamas stronghold," media reports said.

Broadcast images showed smoke and shots could be heard.

"Fatah took control of the university and capturedseveral Iranian weapons experts, the BBC reported. At least two people had beeninjured," the broadcaster said.

The Iranians had allegedly trained Hamas in militarymatters, Israeli daily Haaretz reported in its online edition citing Fatahsources. Seven Iranians had been captured and one had committed suicide.

Hamas, however, told the BBC that no Iranians were on thecampus.

A cache of over 1,000 weapons and rockets had also beendiscovered at the university, CNN reported.

A ceasefire aimed at ending inter-Palestinian fightingbetween Fatah and Hamas started to fall apart Thursday when an attack on an aidconvoy in the centre of the Gaza Strip sparked new gun battles.
