Gorakhpur violence: Curfew relaxed for two hours

Gorakhpur:Curfewhas been relaxed for two hours today (Feb 2, 2007) in this riot-hit town as nountoward incident was reported since last night.

While the curfew was relaxed in Kotwali from 9 AM -11 AM, in Tewaripur andRajghat areas it will be lifted from 3PM-5PM and 12 noon-2PM respectively, ADM(City) P K Agarwal said.

"However, the authorities decided not to relax curfew in Goraknath area, wherethe Goraknath temple is situated.Essential commodities are being supplied in the curfew-bound areas, Agarwalsaid.

Prohibitory orders have been in force in the eastern Uttar Pradesh town sincelast week after communal violence broke out.

Two persons were killed and several others sustained injuries in the violence.
