New Delhi: Termingthe killings of women and children in Nithari as an 'exceptional case worldover', CBI today
(Feb 9, 2007)said theagency had been able to unravel the crime to a large extent and it would befiling its chargesheet before April this year.
"I am happy with the pace of investigations. We have unravelled the crimeto a great extent and we need now the corroborating evidence which was possiblethrough various forensic tests and scientific aides," CBI Director VijayShanker told reporters at an informal gathering at its headquarters.
About the individual roles of Moninder Singh Pandher and Surendra Koli, theDirector, without naming them, said, "The probe so far indicates that itappeared that most of murders were done by one of the two accused only but theinvestigation was still under process."
To a specificquestion about the role of Pandher, Shanker only retorted the investigation ison and we are examining his role in totality.
While making it clearthat the CBI had not found any indications about organ trade, Shanker saidabout the duo having cannibalistic tendencies were being looked into by theteam of concerned phsycologists and experts.
The CBI Director also chose to announce that the agency was working hard with ateam of experts to clinch forensic evidence and that the agency would be filingits first chargesheet in the case within 90 days. The case was registered bythe CBI on January 11, this year.
