Lucknow: At least 200,000people are likely to attend a global Hindu meet organised by the Vishwa HinduParishad (VHP) in Allahabadfrom Sunday.

The three-day 'World Hindu Conference', planned at the banksof the Ganges river where the Ardh Kumbh Melais just ending, is aimed at raising more rhetoric over the construction of amuch-debated Ram temple at Ayodhya, say political analysts.

They see the forthcoming meet as a move to build up hype onthe eve of the forthcoming state assembly elections with an obvious intent tobenefit the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), VHP's political ally.

Uttar Pradesh's Mulayam Singh Yadav government hassanctioned a grant of Rs.25 million for the preparation of basic infrastructurein the 300-acre area allotted to VHP for the meet near the holy 'Sangam'confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and the nowinvisible Saraswati rivers.

"We have provided roads, water pipelines, electricityand other necessary facilities for such a massive gathering," a localofficial from Allahabadtold sources.
